Open Treasure at Durham Cathedral

Open Treasure is a new world class exhibition at Durham Cathedral. Over £10 million has been invested by the Cathedral for visitors to enjoy. It opened on 23rd July and is available to all visitors.

Open Treasure gives visitors access to previously hidden spaces within the Cathedral’s magnificent Claustral buildings, showcasing the Cathedral’s collections so that they can be discovered and enjoyed by many more people of all ages.

The journey begins in the magnificent fourteenth-century Monks’ Dormitory, with interactive exhibits and activities for visitors of all ages, and continues through a new state-of-the-art Collections Gallery with a rolling programme of exhibitions.

Next visit the spectacular Great Kitchen, with its stunning octagonal ceiling. This amazing space will eventually house the Treasures of St Cuthbert following a period of environmental monitoring, but for now you can admire a spectacular https://ampills.com exhibition of church plate and metalwork.

Finally, explore the new the Pilgrimage and Community Galleries in the Covey before returning to the medieval Cloister.
