Durham Cathedral, Durham DH1, UK

Venue Information

Durham Cathedral is a Norman building constructed between 1093 and 1133 in the Romanesque style. It was founded as a monastic cathedral built to house the shrine of St Cuthbert. The Cathedral has been in continuous use since its original construction 900 years ago. It remains a place of worship and pilgrimage, and is also an important visitor attraction. It holds over 1700 services a year, and costs £60,000 per week (that’s about £6 per minute!) to maintain.

The Cathedral offers a variety of spaces and it works amazingly if you’re looking after a truly unique conference, banqueting or reception venue in Durham. With space to host over 600 delegates this is a truly iconic venue in which to host your next event.

Championing local produce the Undercroft Restaurant has received a Taste Durham award in recognition of its support of local producers and the team are always on hand to discuss your plans.  If you’re looking to put a spring in the step of your delegates then private cathedral tours or guided walks of the local woodland and riverbank can always be incorporated into your day.  Or why not challenge them to head up the cathedral tower to take in the stunning views – they may even spot the Angel of the North on a clear day.

Client Testimonial

May I take this opportunity to say a huge “Thank You” for your supreme efforts of Friday evening at The DLI/Rifles Northern Cocktail Party. You and your excellent staff made it the successful evening that is was. Your attention to detail and the courtesy of your ladies who looked after the guests in a most professional way and always with a smile made the evening that much more enjoyable.

The location is most suitable for all those who attend this annual Cocktail Party and I think we have the balance of numbers just right, even if numbers were down a little on previous years, but there were a lot of WW1 events going on throughout the County, so it is xanaxlowprice.com understandable.

Please do pass on my thanks to all your staff, especially your supervisor who was most attentive throughout the evening, right to the final stages of cleaning up and still catering to the Durham ACF Band and Bugles with their sandwiches. Please also thank whoever rescued my notes at the end of the evening, when I had to take the Brigadier to the rail station and my notes were left behind.

Once more, a job well done and another successful Cocktail Party to remember, due to you and your staff,

In much appreciation,

Chris Lawton MBE Major (Retd) Rifles Regimental County Secretary, Durham
